Subject: DRS Notice 24-001, Insert for New Hire Plan Choice Booklets
This notice is regarding the printed plan choice booklets for new hires in PERS, SERS and TRS. We have an updated insert available for Plan Choice Booklets published June 2023, and earlier. Effective Jan. 1, 2024, Health Care Authority amended the PEBB health care deferral requirements for Plan 2 customers. These are now similar to Plan 3.

We will update the printed booklets during their annual updates in June 2024. You can also direct employees to the updated online version of the booklet.
Updates to the plan choice guide include: Removal of the health care information row on page 4. Update to the health care information on Page 11.
To qualify for PEBB coverage after separation:
Plan 2: You must elect coverage within 60 days of termination. As long as you meet the age and service requirements for an early retirement (age 55 or older with 20 or more years of service credit), you can delay receiving your retirement benefit and still be eligible for PEBB coverage.
Plan 3: You must elect coverage within 60 days of termination. As long as you meet the age and service requirements for an early retirement (age 55 or older with 10 or more years of service credit), you can delay receiving your retirement benefit and still be eligible for PEBB coverage.
